Our Ministry to the Poor: Jesus’ Last Great Teachings

Jesus began his ministry by standing in his local synagogue and reading the following scripture from Isaiah: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and … set at liberty them that are bruised.” Not only did this this proclamation establish a primary focus of Jesus’ ministry, it was sealed by his last two great teachings, one found in the 25th Chapter of Matthew and the other in the 21st Chapter of John. This session examines these two ultimate lessons and considers their relevance for the contemporary Church.
