Description
As Exponent II celebrates its 50th anniversary, current and former bloggers reflect on their experiences with Mormon feminism. They posted petitions online calling for equality, stood in line for entrance to the priesthood session of general conference, protested anti-queer policies at BYU, advocated for rights and visibility for the disabled, and—frequently—demonstrated on Utah’s Capitol Hill for the passage of the Equal Rights Amendment. But they often felt frustrated at the lack of progress towards equality. While so many of the questions that current Mormon feminists ask of the LDS Church sound the same as those from prior decades, the questions Mormon feminists ask themselves change. Exponent II president Lori LeVar Pierce guides this multi-generational roundtable in discussing what has changed for each of them and what new questions are guiding their writing and activism within Mormon feminism and beyond.
