Description

For more than two decades, folklorist Danny B. Stewart has collected personal narratives, rumors, anecdotes, and “real encounters” with spirits, apparitions, monsters, and superstitions throughout Utah. Many of these stories take place in what could be called a “haunted space.” Danny uses these stories to engage communities and preserve local traditions. He will discuss his adventures interviewing Utah folk, what it takes to build a ghost tour from the ground up, and some of the strange, surprising, and memorable experiences that happen in the field.

Danny B. Stewart is a folklorist, educator, writer, lecturer, and collector of Utah folklore. He is currently finishing his Master’s thesis in Folklore at Utah State University and has spent more than twenty years traveling Utah’s back roads, checking under beds, peeking through broken windows, rummaging through libraries, and sipping tea while collecting the “tea” from everyday people. Creator of The Original Provo Ghost Tour and The Provo Faerie Walk, and known online as “The Utah Folklore God,” Danny has documented more than 400 firsthand accounts of ghosts, monsters, UFOs, folk beliefs, and other strange experiences throughout the state.
