Is Mormon priesthood power unique, or is it one expression of a broader energetic phenomenon? In this presentation, I examine priesthood through the lens of comparative energy work. Drawing from my experience giving blessings and using the priesthood within Mormonism, I describe the somatic, verbal, and intentional components involved in accessing what felt like a divine current.

After leaving the Church, I reconstructed priesthood blessings into what I call “Heart Touches” by altering language and structure while accessing the same energetic source. By comparing priesthood blessings with practices such as Reiki, ceremonial magic, and other healing modalities, I propose that the power is real, but the structure around it is culturally constructed and limiting.

This session explores the distinction between sources of power and methods of connection, inviting participants to reconsider priesthood not as institutional property, but as one pathway within a universal energetic framework.

Daniel Carter is a Reiki Master, and the founder of Temperance the Star: Vessel of Healing. He provides energy work through Reiki healing, shadow work, intuitive energy transformation, grief circles, and guided meditation. He has a BS in Social Work and an MS in Conflict Resolution. He was a deeply practicing Mormon till he was 31, and has since explored intentional personal spirituality through many mystical methods.
