Accelerating change has creating an unprecedented time of technological upheaval. Our civilization will have to ask ourselves big questions about what we value for its own sake, what we can offer to each other, and how we will reshuffle the economic order in a world with fundamentally different economic assumptions. Simultaneously, each of us must make important decisions about the fight for our attention. What does it look like to use abundant intelligence to craft algorithms that serve us and our values, instead of the interests of immense corporations to whom we traded our data and attention? What will we spend our time doing when AI and machines can do nearly anything, or more than everything, we can do and better? How do we care for each other, when everyone’s needs can be so easily met without anyone else at all? Our answers to these questions will shape the spirit of our descendants. What do the scriptures and our values tell us to do with the God-like power to organize intelligences?
