Description
On January 17 of this year, it was announced that Community of Christ’s Council of Twelve Apostles had nominated Stassi D. Cramm of the First Presidency as the successor to the church’s outgoing prophet and president, Stephen M. Veazey. When President Cramm is ordained at the church’s 2025 World Conference, she will become the first woman to serve as prophet of the church since its organization in 1830 and reorganization in 1860. In this presentation, John Hamer will trace the history of the calling of prophet in the Prairie Saint tradition and the significant differences it has from the role as developed by the Rocky Mountain Saints. Hamer will also outline the many significant challenges facing the church that President Cramm will inherit and consider Community of Christ’s prospects.
