Description

The LDS Church has taught that Mother in Heaven exists, that she is divine, and that she is co-equal with God—but that she is silent and totally inaccessible. And God wants her that way. Men in authority tell us she is too sacred to pray to, too holy to name, and too precious for our curiosity.

If the most powerful female being in existence doesn’t get to speak, what does that say about the voice of Mormon women?

What it’s for: testimony, sustaining, defending the faith, endless worthiness. What it isn’t for: your doubts, your needs, your knowing. And God probably wants you to be quietly good, too.

I grew up in the Church. I was a strong woman in it—eloquent in defense of the gospel, and barely able to whisper my own doubts, needs, or knowing.

This is a learned pattern, which means it can be unlearned.

This session names the wound, offers language for what it cost us, and points toward what comes next.

Because speaking up can feel like betrayal.

It is. And it’s also the most sacred work women can do.

Sara Bybee Fisk is a certified master life coach who has spent the last eight years teaching women how to have the hard conversations without abandoning themselves when it gets hard. Trained in somatic work, parts work, and feminist frameworks, she came to this work by spending decades unable to do it herself. She could advocate fiercely for anyone who needed a voice, but could barely name her own needs in her closest relationships. That contradiction became her curriculum. She lives in Arizona and believes that finding your voice is not a personality trait available to a few brave women. It’s a skill and it can be learned.
