Description
A Mormon pioneer folk horror film. Two plural wives receive a mysterious visitation amidst the blood-red rock of Southern Utah. Come for the scares, stay for the close attention the filmmakers paid to Mormon history, artifacts, and symbols. Geek out with them about it afterward during the Q&A.
The Angel has screened at several notable film festivals, such as the Oscar and BAFTA qualifying Indy Shorts Film Festival, FilmQuest, Chattanooga Film Festival, Gen Con, Chicago Horror Film Festival, and many others. Due to its unique subject matter and historicity, the film has also been recognized and showcased by several scholarly and arts organizations within the Latter-day Saint culture, including the Center for Latter-day Saint Arts, the Wayfare Festival, the Association for Mormon Letters, BYU-Hawaii, Angels and Seerstones: A Latter Day Saint Folklore Podcast, the Mormon History Association, and, of course, the Sunstone Symposium. The Angel is a proof-of-concept for our award winning feature script, The Third Wife, which is currently in development with Doug Jones attached.
