This presentation highlights gender boundaries within today’s Mormondom through a study of Sheri Dew, the first female president of Deseret Book and a staunch defender of traditional gender roles. Is Dew’s defense of a traditional “woman” subverted by her prominent position and rhetoric? In her speech and actions, does she transgress traditional gender boundaries and assume a role Mormons traditionally reserve to men?
