Eivai Mormonosi The Greeks And The Mormons In Early 20 Th Century Utah

During the early twentieth century, thousands of Greeks poured into Utah to work in its mines and on its railroads. Many of these new migrants came from regions still controlled by the Ottoman Empire. This presentation will examine the relationship between those Greek immigrants and their Mormon neighborhoods. In particular, we will explore intermarriages and religious conversions through the lens of each group’s19th-century history.
